Katharine A. Gannon,  LPC, LAC, ADS

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Addictions Counselor and an Acudetox Specialist who works with teens and adults struggling with substance use, trauma, family relationships/attachment concerns and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. I focus on helping clients develop skills to feel balanced and work through overwhelming feelings that may arise from the stressors of daily life.

Are you going through a tough time? Do you feel like the world is against you? Are you looking for an empowering, accepting and non-judgmental space to process and grow as a person? It is important for me to treat everyone with kindness and understanding to allow you to be your most genuine self. I can help you to reframe your challenges into opportunities for growth, and embrace difficult situations as necessary to become stronger and gain resilience. Do you find yourself denying, ignoring or pushing away your own feelings? I can guide you to be more open to your emotions, allowing you to feel them more fully and process through them safely.

My therapeutic approach can best be described as trauma-informed, strengths-based and collaborative, as it integrates a comprehensive understanding of the prevalence and impact trauma plays in the daily functioning of clients and their families. I empower my clients to focus on their resiliency and the strengths they have developed to survive, by supporting and guiding them through the therapeutic process without experiencing re-traumatization.

My clients walk away from a session feeling supported, empowered and heard. They are able to recognize where the concerns that brought them into therapy stem from and process through them to enhance their life in the present-day. My clients are able to find their voice and become the best version of themselves.

Since 2006, I have had clinical experience in the following settings: working as a Behavioral Health Specialist for young men in a correctional setting, a therapist in a community based and Intensive In-Home Therapy program, a therapist in a community mental health agency's day treatment program, an Intake Specialist for court appointed juveniles and have conducted published research within the mental health field as a graduate student.
